The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Bam Bam was fairly simple to grab, he was asleep when I picked him up. Of course he did the 4 leg spread trying to stuff him in the carrier.

Pip hides, even under ordinary circumstances. Took shaking their Greenies bag to lure her out, then she fought going in the carrier too.

And of course there was the 12 mile car trip with them screeching a duet in the back.

Once the vet was done with them they couldn't wait to get back in their carriers and barely made a peep on the way home

Bam's been avoiding me since. But Pip came and sat in my lap and we made up.

Aw poor kitties! Glad one forgave you lol

Luna is surprisingly good at the vet's. She loveeeessss her carrier so she gladly walks right in it lol and she's pretty quiet in the car. Makes a little noise when she's up on the seat but I figured out when I put the carrier on the floor behind one seat she's quieter and she's kind of in a little cave thing cause the floor raises in the middle so she's in a lower spot and she's surrounded by seats and its dark. And she's very good for the vets and groomers. Makes a little bit of noise but very good, no biting or anything. She got shaved in July and also last year in January and both times they said she was really good and just made a little noise. I was surprised she didn't fight. But she is a very sweet cat and nonconfrontational. She usually just runs rather than fights. She doesn't even use her claws most times when she does swipe with her paws.

Not sure...thats my son in that picture:)Hubby says there isn’t much it can’t handle but I’ll ask w

Our’s was $1000.00

Ash is the best to burn here. I don’t know the difference between white Ash and what we have...same thing maybe?

Thats my son. He is young and strong. Hubby would have to grunt to get that up there. It says 25 ton Black Diamond. Got it at Runnings.

Ain’t it great:gig
we don't have a runnings here but maybe i can find another company that handles a black diamond and check it out, seems to me that i did see that name somewhere when we were out yesterday, maybe rural king
i would think that they're both the same, i know the white ash is used to make baseball bats, its a very hard wood, and very hard to cut, my husband dulls a blade every time he cuts and then has to sharpen it again before he can cut again( usually he can cut for about three hours if that )

Because i love them! I sell birds and eggs, and plan to harvest some excess males for meat if it ever cools off here. My shirt is soaked in sweat again. I also want to develop a line of blue egg laying quail.
we raised quail last year to eat, altho i grew up eating wild bob whites (father was a hunter) i felt so bad processing them that i decided we will stick to chicken and sometimes a turkey. what you have certainly are gorgeous

Kdogg sounds like a cat I could tolerate.

I always wonder about the poor groomers/ vet/ etc. that have to work on cats. Had maybe a half dozen bad dogs to work on when I had the grooming shop but nothing like a cat pitchin' a fit.

She is definitely a sweetie! Although she wasn't always that way lol she used to be very wild or like skittish and tear around the house constantly, run when you got near her, sometimes bite, hated being picked up, etc. My dad made the biting worse though because he used to roughhouse with her and let her bite his hand even though I asked him not to. So I honestly think the biting was just play but still. Anyway, we finally got her spayed at 3 and she calmed down a lot but was still pretty playful and sometimes skittish. Now that she is older (turned 8 in August) she is a lot calmer and mellower and actuallt likes being held.. sort of. Still on her terms. When she loves it, she loves it and when she hates it, she hates it. No in between lol but even in her "crazy years" she was always very sweet and loving still and slept in my bed every night. Then for a while I locked her out cause I was allergic but now I've been letting her in again and just recently like the past couple weeks she's been sleeping in my room every night and sleeping on my bed all day :love she really is a great little cat and I love her very much. My brothers used to hate her but are starting to come around since she's mellowed out. My one brother has been petting and holding her more recently but he is also allergic, more so than me, and gets sick when he comes home, so I think having her shaved has helped him. Plus the fact that she is more mellow and not crazy. But I felt bad, he tried to hold her last night or the other night and she wasn't having it :( but anyway, we used to have a big huge orange cat that loved everybody and would sit for hours and be loved and she's not really like that and was crazy the first 3 years so it's been somewhat of an adjustment for them I think. Plus she is "mine" rather than a family cat. That said, she is very social and loves being around everybody, she gets lonely being alone, and she does come out to visit guests usually, though doesn't always say hi, just very curious lol, and I think she would love them too but they've never really given her a chance. But she is the best little thing. And her purr is sooo loud it's ridiculous lol it was hilarious as a kitten

Yeah, he puts the wood on another section before splitting it. Idk why he is so against a splitter.
Which means he has to lift it anyway! I don't know why he doesn't want a splitter either. OK if you only burn a small amount of wood but the old body takes a beating splitting wood with a maul.

Just got back from the vet with 2 royally ticked off cats. It took me longer to hunt them down and stuff them in their carriers than it did for the vet to do her routine exam.
Hey at least you can FIND your cats. We have one that smells the fear in our hearts when we know she needs to go to the vet and hides. She's missed her last two appointments. Then I noticed she isn't due for the state required rabies shot until next March so didn't bother to reschedule the appointment for this year.

he wants one that works both ways and we're still looking
My 10 ton electric DR runs both directions but it is SLOWWWWWW. If you buy a machine with auto retract, no reason to care if it splits both directions. Did I mention mine is slow?

Ash is usually very straight grained so while hard, it splits easily.
