Yeah, I hate BK too and actually the one closest to me closed and the other one might close too. The one near me was horrible, bunch of high school kids that didn’t care. Plus it’s near KFC

Yes, it's fried flat dough, similar to Bannock but no milk or oil is used in the ingredients and bannock is baked. Canadian natives and some natives in the your neck of the woods make bannock, personally I don't think it's as good as fry bread.

Last time I had fry bread was NM State fair...I can't wait for tomorrow so I can go to the store for the supplies to make some!

I think fried dough is pretty close to your fried bread recipe. Looks like the addition of butter is the major difference

• 2 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour*
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 3/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, in 1/2" cubes
• 3/4 cup lukewarm water

It got started back in the late 1800's when the Plains tribes were forced into reservations. Short rations, little beef or veggies, so they made do with what they had the most of...flour.
It really became popular at pow-wows during the 60's and now days they have competitions to see who can make the best fry bread.

I do think you tend to enjoy things you had growing up > Except my son has never requested that I make him "Hamburger Helper anything." I loved it for many years and then they tampered with the sauce mix and I dumped them.
