The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Some/many folks need to eat far less.
That is quite true. We went to a restaurant near DD1's school in Sept. There were a lot of people who looked like they need to eat less. And given the size of the portions of food served, I can see why that would be true if they ate there often.

but she actually came out a little bit ahead after 2 days of gambling.
That's perfect! Free entertainment.

Some of the old homes in Key West never had heat in them.
Similar in Hawaii I think. The temp (at least on Oahu) is relatively constant and there is usually a breeze.

i start the oven, and cook a roast while i'm at it,
Ah, that's different! That is cooking and incidental house heating :D In our prior house we were pretty OCD about turning the heat off on April 15 and not turning it back on until Oct 15. There were times when we made things in the oven since that helped add a bit of heat to the house.

When i go I never play with more than I am willing to loose. Usually the amount of money for a night out dinner and clubbing. About sixty bucks.
:thumbsup That is the way to do it. Figure out your loss tolerance and go home if you hit it.

Also, does anyone know if you have to soak lentils like you do with dried beans? Ron? Debby? Anybody?
Depends on what you want to do with them. No need to soak if you are making soup.

Maybe I should try them out for you

DH cannot stand citrus type desserts, I miss them sometimes.
They were good:D
OK Sharron, time to let those nightmares go! You were done with that stuff 8 years ago. Plenty of newer things to have nightmares about ;)

Same with my sister. She and her husband had a printing business. Their accountant told them to pay just one or the other because SS tax is capped. Yeah well now Sister has no SS and the husband is a ex.

No, but there is something you need to let US know! Like how much fun the Princess had at the casino, that she won a ton of money and that you had a reasonable time as well :D

IMHO the kid would be better off in another room. Being in the same room with Mama and not getting her undivided attention isn't going well.

Isn't it funny how "turn off the lights", cut out the half hour showers, turn the temp down" falls on deaf ears until it is THEM paying the bills.

Inefficient way to heat a house, the central heater is a better method. Or if Deb is parked in just one room a small space heater aimed at her.
I wish we could put him in another room. Toddlers and preschool kids share one huge room but they are separated by low walls. He can hear her talking and was climbing on a kid castle to look over the wall. We had to remove it. In 2 years(if I last that long)we will be moving to the elementary school in town as they are adding on and we will have our own rooms with doors.

I love lentil soup. But I won't be in your area until mid March and I suspect it will be gone by then. BTW, add extra water because the lentils will suck it all up and you'll have thick lentil stew.

I cant believe how much water the little guys have soaked up already.

I’ll freeze a bowl for you. 😉

Good morning DMC & everyone!

DMC, it won't surprise me a bit if you're still there in a couple of years to make that move to the elementary school. You're one of those rare people that can be counted on!

Oh good! I'm so happy to you enjoyed it. I have a coworker who likes SK but she hated that book. She wants resolution at the end of every story.

But life isn't like that with a resolution to each of our stories. So I thought it was a fine book, but certainly different than a lot of his.

I cant keep my eyes open today. Please tell me someone here has coffee... Its been impossible to get a good cup the last couple weeks.

It's a little known fact that there is always a pot of coffee hidden in the back of the room along with the birthday decorations. Help yourself any time you want Roomy :)

Also, does anyone know if you have to soak lentils like you do with dried beans? Ron? Debby? Anybody?

Looks like you got your lentil question answered. I've made lentil soup in the past, but that was a long time ago. I used to just rinse the lentils (picking out anything that didn't belong there as Sharron said) and then cook them. Tell us how your soup turned out!
