Need help with non laying Hen

Hi,

I have been looking for information for ages on why my hen hasn't been laying but nothing I've read works.

We brought hen that we were told was laying as she is fully grown and pullet for company, plus just one to watch grow. Our hen hasn't laid an egg in well over a month and no idea why.

They have huge run and big coup, feed them quality laying mix with odd treat but no joy. They both sleep inside their nesting box and even placed in fake eggs but still nothing. She seems happy and relaxed as she will even eat food out of my hand. I don't want to take her back as she has gotten so friendly but have no idea why she still isn't laying.
They also said before she was sold that she had been wormed too so that can't be it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
How old is she? She could have been molting. Any feather loss? Even if you got her after her feathers grew back in, she still will need time to get her body weight back up before laying. Do you have a picture of her?
 
When I got my 2nd hen from an egg factory she laid for about 5 days then completely stopped for 29 days. I think she was in shock,

That's a picture of her, not 100% sure how old but the guy said they were all laying hens when we picked her out. Hasn't lost any feathers or none that I've found so I'm not too sure.
 
I posted a pic of her a little while ago, I'm not sure if it just takes longer to come up because its a photo or it didn't work. But I haven't noticed her molt any feathers and I'm not sure exactly how old she is but when we picked her up they said she was laying one and looks like a full size hen. I've seen normal old hens and she looks same size, just doesnt seem to want to lay.
 
At this me of year (assuming you are in the northern hemisphere) it is not unusual for older birds to stop laying, moult and not start laying again until the days start getting longer. Her comb and wattles appear quite pale, so she is not ready to recommence egg laying just yet. It is worth checking her and your coop for red mites as these hide in the crevices of the hen house through the day and crawl onto the chickens at night to suck their blood. This can cause their comb to be pale and prevent egg laying but my guess would be that it is just the change of home and time of year. There is a reason why people sell older hens... it's because they don't want to feed them through the winter for no gain.

If that bird in the background of the photo is the "pullet" you bought, it might be worth posting a close up profile shot of it, as the red colour on it's shoulders is suggesting to me that it is a cockerel.

I agree with the above poster on both counts. I expect your hen isn't laying due to the time of year, and your "pullet" looks to be a cockerel.
 
I agree with both above posts. I have four 4.5 month old pullets and their body shape and comb colour are the same as your photo.

She looks low on weight and her comb is very pale, she needs time yet. She needs to get her weight up. The bird in the back does appear to be a cockerel.
