That is the one . Hey the SS boys are taking chances with their lives . One has found a way out . I have not found out how he does it . So I open the pen so he can get back in . Got to go out now and close it . I think I will move him . Chickens are suicidal .

Evening all! I am pooped! after i got of here yesterday I've been going going going. I got my snow fence up, got 3/4 of my firewood hauled and stacked, got some junk hauled, summer sausage made, and got the rest of my steel garage roof on besides trim. I just took a 30 minute long steaming shower to thaw out... happy to sit on the couch with my feet up and puppies cuddled!! The summer sausage is cooking now and smells sooooo good!

chickens are unfazed by the 30 degree weather. they were out doing their thing all day. the new coop is staying pleasantly warm despite the weather too.

Well slap my... rump... and call me sally!! they must have started making Festal again somewhere else? they dont can it here in Owatonna anymore and i dont miss that part. it used to get quite smelly in town when the pile of pumpkins would start to grow at the cannery.

I just took the 2 Roos off the roost and put them in my car for a ride tomorrow morning and only have 10 hens in the coop. Wonder where I might buy 2 or 3 hens at this time of year.

yeah kloppers I'm sure I saw Festal Canned pumpkin at my 'up north' grocery store. LOL. Maybe it is a change in the pumpkin breed though...as you've said and its canning is being done somewhere else....?

I have set my DVR for CMT's airing of Chicken People. It would be good to hear if Ed and Jerry are converts.











The buckeye hen I have has foaming of her eyes. Front corner of the eye. She is not outwardly sneezing, rattling or anything like that. It is colder of course than it had been. Should I just wipe her eyes and a bit of Vet rx to see if it will clear with that? Any thoughts? She is quite large and she is probably ready for her next purpose as Minnie says. But it's not high on my order of things to get to....as she's a mouser for me. IDK. Would like to give her a nice retirement. But if there's issues with her going into retired hen mode then ...IDK what to think. I might have to bump her up to the second purpose.

@duluthralphie do you still have your Minnesota Australorp hens you're trying to rehome?
