Heated water bowls and extension cords

A small update on winter watering. A month past I purchased a "cube" which switches "on" at 35° and "off" at 45°. Seems to be working well, no frozen water and no unnecessary evaporation when the days are warmer.

This original post was from 2008, so i'm sure the OP have gone on several trips by now. However, for those just looking now I use one of these Farm Innovators CC-2 Cord Connect Water-Tight Cord Lock, to keep the cord connections dry and I elevate them off of the ground as well.

I don't see how you would use a waterer without an extension cord, the waterer cords I've seen are only 2-4 feet long.
