Hi. Is there a way to tell bantam from LF birds . I bought two chicks at an auction the last week of October that were labeled as cochin/wyandotte. They are now approx 8 weeks old and are the same size or smaller than 2 silkie chicks that are 9 or 10 weeks. If they were LF chicks should they not start to pass the silkie chicks in size soon?

One would think so. Especially since Silkie are bantam themselves in the US. Basically same weight as Europe but considered light large fowl.

All you can do is wait and see, they may have a retarded growth period right now or will forever be bantam.
