Breed Colors

Ah alright, thank you for clarifying some of that, alot of the poultry books (adbit old and I probably should update them) have always stated that black X white= blue but it appears they haven't had people who been breeding for generations of birds on their team of writers

Thank you again, I will be saving that chart for a poultry genetic talk I plan on working on next year!

Soooooo It appears I got sold a mutt instead of a pure bred!

Not at all. Blue varieties of pure breeds are pure. A black bird resulting from a blue variety is still considered "blue" and pure of that particular breed.

All true bred Andalusions have black, splash and blue birds in the flock. It's the nature of the breed. All people were saying is only the blue birds are allowed in competition shows. There are reasons for this, most important being the blue is supposed to be laced. You can't determine lacing on a black bird and though a splash will show some lacing at times there is no way to evaluate (judge at a show) how complete it is.
