A will is essential! I was executor on my mother's estate - took no 'executor's fee'. Everything was divided equally between my two sisters and me as per my mother's will. My oldest sister is a saint - the other NOT. I have seen her once since the funeral.
"Friends are the family you make for yourself."
A will she has, but it hardly matters. Anything the state could take they have done so. What is left, I have. As POA for health and finance, my "family" can do nothing without my say so. And it is up to me what care mother gets (everything that will make her comfortable) and who gets what. Right now I am not feeling very charitable. When all is said and done I have no wish to ever see my family again.
