I found my leghorn on Monday just lying in the middle of the coop. When she tried to get up she wouldn't put any weight on her right foot - turns out she has bumblefoot. I "operated" on her on Tuesday and got the black "plug" out. I put Neosporin on it, bandaged it up, and put her in her own little cozy coop. I've been replacing the bandage twice a day and reapplying the Neopsporin. I can't tell if it is getting better or not. She is still mostly laying down, though she will stand up when we come out and walks a very little bit. How long does it take for bumblefoot to heal? When I took the plug out, (I soaked it in epsom salt for 15 minutes and picked it out with tweezers.) I got down to a hard red skin. Was that far enough?
