So how do we sex these chicks?
They are old enough that you are already starting to see the males' combs pinken and enlarge, Amanda. That, plus the barring on males is crisper, brighter white all through the body than the pullets'.
AND, if you see a bare side of the neck where a the fuzz is gone and the feathers are not there yet, that is usually a cockerel. They tend to be almost bare-necked, maybe even with the wing tops partially bare for a time, whereas the pullets seem to feather in more evenly and more steadily with few bare spots. And of course, the pullets appear overall darker.
