I ordered some bantams from a hatchery and they included 9 males for warmth. They are much much bigger than the bantams and I don't know what breed they are. Thanks for the help!

Probably a Rhode Island Red/Production Red cockerel. They're probably standard size, so they will end up being between 3-4 times bigger than your bantams.

I agree...out of curiousity did they just include the males for warmth or did they inform you?
I'm guessing it was Ideal hatchery. It's in their policy to include packing peanuts for smaller orders. Folks don't always read the fine print, though. Other hatcheries have a minimum number of chicks or order to ensure everyone stays warm, or extra shipping charges for things like heat packs. Even with Ideal you can opt out of the packing peanuts, but you have to either increase your order or pay the extra shipping fees. When I order from Ideal, I make sure my order is large enough and include a note saying no packing peanuts. I don't need to deal with extra cockerels, I hatch enough of my own thank you very much

. If I only want a smaller amount of birds, I tack on extra pullets of popular or rare breeds. I have no trouble selling them either as chicks or started birds.
