Hi! I am at my wit send here folks and know if anyone can help me, BYC folks can!! I want to start a little flock of Pyncheons! I know one major hatchery has them ( they drop ship to several others) Thing is, 30 of the little guys are just too many; most likely they would all be closely related as well. Also, I did get other chickens I liked dropped shipped from this hatchery ( I did NOT order from this hatchery but another one that uses them, as MANY do) I was not happy with their silkies at all. Cute chicks, and I must say they are healthy BUT very few pea combs!!! I will keep them of course in my pet flock;) Point is, I want Pyncheons;) They are adorable and lovable little birds. I have had NO luck getting any breeders!!! I will welcome all info!!! Thank you so very very much!!!! Also, sadly I need chicks. I am not interested in hatching eggs.

Depending on where you are located, I would think you should be able to sell the surplus birds from a minimum order--especially a breed that wouldn't be found at the feed stores. Also, look at any of your local feed stores, maybe they are supplied by the hatchery you mentioned?

I wouldn't be worried about hatchery chicks being closely related any more than a breeder.

I'm not sure why you're mad that the silkies didn't have pea combs, aren't they supposed to have Walnut? So what did they have?

The different big hatcheries are going to have some breeds that are better than others. Personally, I'd get the chicks from the source you've found, sell the extras, and continue to look for a better source.

Hi Popsicle! Thank you for your response! Yes you are right about the walnut. Lol. The females have pea combs and the Roos have regular 5 pointed combs. Sorry about that. I am fairly sure from looking at the other breeds, ALL the hatcheries that sell Pyncheons get their shipments from Privett. I may have incorrect spelling on the hatchery. It is in New Mexico. I have double checked the various breeds that the hatcheries that carry Pyncheons and they have identical bantam breeds and colors as the others( some a tad rare like Japanese etc) There is a hatchery that is now selling Nankins!!! I was shocked and surprised about this( as was a very stellar breeder who doesn't ship chicks, sadly) I guess I could always order other banties;) or as you said sell a few. Thank you so much!!!
