Hi everyone. I candled my duck eggs this morning and one it's starting to hatching process. When I am candling it looks like there are two peaks trying to get through. Or is it just the baby's body it is a small egg from my kaki campbell the is just a yr old. Should I helped or just keep wathing and what is the likely hood of them living if it is two. My daughter is trying to start showing and the learning process of were ducks and chickens cme from.

If the duckling opened up a hole then don't be too quick to assist, since doing so too soon can be dangerous. However, picking away a bit of the shell around the beak will let you better tell what is happening in the egg while allowing the duckling to still get out on its own.

I hope this helps you if you do need to assist it: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1075785/assisted-hatching

Best of luck! And if it is twins, I'd love to see a picture! Twin birds are very rare.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm a chicken person and don't know much about ducks (although I've had a few), but definitely post on our Duck section at Other BackYard Poultry under the Forum at the top of the page and take advantage of our duck experts there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.
