Completely baffled over wheezing chicken.

I have a RIR hen who has been loudly wheezing for a couple of months now. I've tried a couple of antibiotics, to no avail. A couple of times she had a little yellow mucus in one eye but the antibiotics clear that up. But the loud wheezing is not improving. The weird thing is that this hen has an extremely good appetite and has a lot of energy. Also, my other hens have not caught what she has. I would never know she was sick except for her loud wheezing. Any suggestions on what could be wrong with her? Was thinking about making an appointment to see the vet.
 
Poor baby! I am not sure what's wrong but it might be gapeworm or some other parasite bothering her throat and lungs...In case it's some respiratory infection, include apple cider vinegar in her water, a tbs to a gallon, as well as feed her yogurt mixed with garlic to get healthy flora in her crop and energy to fight the virus.
 
Vitamin supplements or electrolytes will also help give her immune system a boost and help her to fight off what sounds like is a virus.

Antibotics will help a secondary infection, however if what she has is viral, I'm sorry to say they won't help her. Also sadly most chiChen illnesses are viral.The antibotics wonot hurt her and can prevent many secondary infections a virus can bring on but that's likely why you haven't seen a big improvement in her condition. Hopefully her body can fight the virus. Unless you know what this virus is exactly, if she fights it off keep in mind she then just might carry the virus. I do hope she gets well. in the past I've lost three to wheezing and coughing. not sure what virus it was but it was heartbreaking. keep us posted on how she's doing. Also if she's not quarentined separate her from the other birds so they don't become ill. Best wishes hope this Helps a little.
 
Yes, this did help. I bought vitamins and probiotics today. If she doesn't fight this off, then she might be going to the vets. I'd hate to put down a chicken who runs around and acts normal, other than her wheezing!!!
