Young rooster cannot see!!

2 days ago my little fella didn't join in with me while I cleaned the coop. Normally he is right there making a mess of my pile of rubbish and getting in the way of the brush and pan. I thought nothing of it as he was having a nap. Then yesterday he didn't help either and was walking into things and not managing to hit the feeder while eating. I picked him up and took him outside and saw that his pupils were still dilated in the daylight. He is a skittish leghorn and always jumped a bit when I moved my hands near his face, now he does not even flinch when I go near him

His eyes are bright, look nothing like the marek's pictures I have seen on BYC, the pupils are just fixed. He has been sneezing a bit lately, no runny nose or eyes or any kind of gunk on his face, breathes as normal as I can imagine a chicken does and no gasping, gurgling or anything.

His appetite is still good, I have put a larger feeder in with him so it is easier for him to eat, and he finds the waterer.

Any ideas here??

Could you post a picture of his eyes? There are many causes of blindness in chickens, from injuries, infections, high ammonia odors, cataracts, Vitamin A deficiency, fowl pox, avian encephalomyelitis as a chick, Mareks, and others. Here are 2 good links to read:

The best picture I can get as he shuts his eyes when I pick him up, and moves too much when I put him down Both eyes are exactly the same. Sparkly and clear and the same size pupils. This picture has light reflected on him.

I'm not an expert, but I don't see any cataract or cloudiness. If you notice any changes in his eye color, pupil size or shape, let us know. I don't know if vitamins might help, but I would try them since they can't hurt. Usually, keeping things in the coop arranged the same can help chickens with problems seeing.

He has vitamin tonic in his water, they all do... I alternate ACV, tonic water, garlic water and pure water over the course of the month. Could his pen mate, who is quite bossy, pecked him on the head and done some damage that I cannot see, neuro perhaps? This is so sudden I am at a loss. He is now in his penthouse that he grew up in so he knows where all his food, grit and water are. My poor Sir Didi

Does anybody have any more ideas as to why this has happened? I am growing more concerned now I don't want to loose this little guy and I cannot think of anything else to try. I am boosting his food with VitA via natural food, beef, sweet pots, carrots all cooked and scrambled egg for protein but he makes such a mess of his pen scratching everything everywhere and his food gets mixed with his poop (he wrecks the pen bless him) He is trying so so hard to just be a chook Can a chook regain sight with a specific diet? I really don't want to have to tube feed him as that would be stressful enough for me let alone him, and that it not the kind of life I want for him. This is him today.

He looks like he may be chilling and appears sleepy. He could be keeping his eye closed because it is dry or irritated. I would bring him inside for warmth, and maybe put some lubricant eye drops or Vetericyn eye gel into his eyes.
