You can get all purpose sand at Lowes and Home Depot in there "cement" area.

The all purpose sand is a mix of course and fine sand it also runs about $3.00 for 50 lbs.

Don't use play sand, its too fine and you will have a mess every time  it rains.

Nope. No flies here either. :clap

 

Tip: one clear plastic ziplock baggie, one real copper penny, and some water.

 

Fill baggie 1/4 water, drop penny inside, zip baggie closed.

 

Hang eye-level on outside of coop screen door 

 

Flies will not come near the coop.

 

For some reason the baggie scares them off.

 

True story.
