Hello Everyone

I am new to the wonderful world of Chicken keeping. It's been a long held dream for me which finally came true in Novemeber last year thanks to my awesome hubby.
I now have 5 lovely ladies clucking about in their coop out the back. All different breeds and all named after family members. The mother in Law is thrilled LOL
we have:
Isa Brown - Frances
Sicilian Buttercup - Laurel
New Hampshire - Beryl
Australorp - Kathleen
White Leghorn - Dawn

It's been a big learning curve for my daughter and I and we have lots of questions.

We are looking forward to learning more and getting to know more chicken lovers and sharing what we have learnt along the way.

oh and our joke of the week is:

what do you call a chicken staring at a lettuce?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. LOL! Good joke. All of us here at BYC have OCD (Obsessive Chicken Disorder) and very few of us are immune to "chicken math" so you will fit right in.) If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Welcome home....

As a "crazy lady" you'll fit right in. One thing the women do here
is 'crazy". One more won't even be noticed.

Chickens...yeh, not so much. We sort of have them...we had to
call the site something in the beginning. Who would go to "Crazy
Women Site"....so the boss went with chickens.

"Everybody buy chickens", he said..."We'll be a chicken site. Maybe
they won't notice we're crazy then"

So now we own chickens and pretend we're normal...

Anyway, welcome to the house.

Hi and welcome to BYC - great to have you join us. The learning centre is a good place to start, as well as the thread "Australia, 6 states and that funny little island" - there you may find other BYC local to you who can help you out with specific advice and point you in the right direction for more chickens

I'm assuming you are generally crazy, and you now want to just focus your craziness on chickens?

Crazy or not, you will fit right in here - after a while you will find like minded members - theres quite a few crazy ones here (as you may have guessed already).

All the best

Aha I knew that was an Aussie sense of humor. BYC has a large population of Aussies - always room for more. Glad you joined us at Backyard chickens. We have so many crazy chicken ladies here, you have to take a number - just kidding
