How do you take good pictures?

I want to post the well defined pictures of embyos, eggs, etc , but my pictures are CRAP. So, what's the trick? How do you position lighting, the egg, etc?

My rubber seal for the candler went AWOL. Is that a make or break issue?

Should a flash be used at all, ever?

This is my phone camera
Rear Camera 16M+ Smart OIS/ Fast AF, Live HDR (Rich Tone)

Though, I do have a nikon with 2 different lenses.

Though, I do have a nikon with 2 different lenses.
A flash will light it up so you get a pic of the actual egg, and not the candling. I hold my harnd around the end of the flashlight, (you need a good bright flashlight) and the egg up to my hand. My hand actually provides a candler. And always candle down into the egg from the air cell. Here's a couple of mine:
