I've just tried to remove the yellow stuff, but got no-where. I might try again with tweezers, but the poor chuck was pretty miserable.

I had started giving her oral VetRX a week ago, it's gotten worse. I wormed her just in case it was eye worm. Any suggestions on the next step to take?

keep pressing around my guess is that something is in the eye with that amount of puffiness i was guessing eye worms but if you said she didn't have them so maybe someone with a better guess could help.

Eyeworms are visible in the eye, about 1/8 inch long. What did you treat with? Valbazen orally and in the eye is the best treatment. More than likely it is an eye infection or a respiratory infection. Is there a bad odor? You really need to get the yellow pus out of the eye, then flush it with saline. Then apply either Terramycin ointment or Vetericyn eye gel twice a day. Is there any nasal drainage, sneezing, or noisy breathing. Are there any marks around the eyelid where she could have been pecked. Foreign objects can also get into the eye causing asn abscess.

I've had a good look in her eye, I don't see any worm. I used Safeguard orally and some in her eye just in case. There is no sneezing, nasal discharge. No bad smell that I notice either. There is a bit of an abrasion about her eye, but she keeps itching it so I think it's from her. The ointments, can I get them from TSC? I can pick some up tomorrow.

TSC should carry both of those medications, but you will need to ask in case they are locked up. Eye worm can cause itching and scratching, and many will scratch their eyes out causing blindness, but it is fairly rare, although more common in tropical regions. It is most common in areas where the Surinam cockroach lives, since it is a host to the worms. Valbazen 1/2 cc or ml orally and repeated in 10 days, plus instilling Valbazen into the eye (mixed with water or saline) and also repeated in 10 days is the treatment.
