Anyone keep a flock friendly dog... Great Pyrenees? - Page 2

You can train most dogs to be chicken friendly. Just takes lots of time and consistency. We have had labs, Pitbulls, golden retrievers, and now our Great Pyr. I worked with them daily to set ground rules and let the dogs know the chickens aren't food or toys. We need a couple dogs because we have a big coyote population and the dogs will also chase off hawks and owls.

My pyr sleeping/guarding the chickens. All three of my dogs roam my property with over 100 chickens. No issues.

Back when we were training our pyr chickens/chicks aren't toys.

It can be done! smile.png We just let them roam together. The dogs know what/who should be in their yard.
