In the Brooder
Is it normal? It doesn't seem to bother, just looks like all the feathers were pecked off. It's a really sweet chick, likes to be held and hops up on my arm to peck freckles.

Sounds like your chicks love you hopefully you have mainly hens! And not a ton of roosYep.
I really had no idea what I was doing when I picked chicks, except that the vent needed to look nice and clean. All of them are pretty good, except for this bare-butted chick, a couple got pasty butts after they came home, which I've been monitoring. "Guess what? Chicken butt." is my new reality.
Barred Rocks and silkie are happy, healthy, no problems, clear vent.
Leghorn--flighty and pasty butt. Though she started warming up to me this morning when I brought them hard-boiled egg.
Catalana--a little sleepier than the others, pasty butt, and looks like she's still recovering from a hernia She eats and drinks fine, and she goes nuts over treats. Hoping for the best.
Cochin--Sweet chick, runs to jump in my hand and climb my arm, but has a bald bootie.
See the barred rock above, my friend thinks it's a roo. It also loves climbing my arm.
Your chick looks like he got pasty butt and then it came off and peeled all his butt fluff off.
His butt fluff will grow back in time.
Are his buddies pecking his butt?
