I am going to build a snow fort by my gate, to keep snow from blowing in. and maybe a fortress wall of snow to the northside of my coop for blowing winds.

That's a smart idea! I have my run completely covered in plastic but I open the door all day because the ducks and geese like to come out. I may steal your fort idea lol

Did that with a tractor a few years back. Bad part is it flooded the bottom when spring melt came.. poor bunnies were homeless for a while.

Have you considered shutting the door when the dux and geeze are out to keep it better for the real poultry?

I have not thought of plastic, I have an all wood, looks like a chalet, with 2 covered porches on the sides. I have filled in the covered porches with boards, and windows, to fill in the open part, that I have done on my own. not professionally. but it does the job, but also cheapens the look of my chalet. I could see plastic as to letting the light in and looking more like a green house in the winter months. It probably would not get approval of hubby, the good news is, at least in the summer I can take down the stuff off my covered porch, because I will not need it for baby chicks because someone gave me one of those chicken huts that look like a salt box east coastal sea houses. They are built cute but not too sturdy, I plan on storing it under the chalet porch.

You are killing me with all those pictures of cute little fluffy butts - I am only on day 4 with one batch and day 10 with the others. All look great so prayers for a great hatch!
