Hi, i just recently purchased two ducklings, and by recently i mean last night. The one yellow one im sure is a Pekin, but the other one im stumped. When we called the store they said they had four Mallards but when we got there they had two Pekins and four of whatever the other one is. I know its not a Mallard so, what is it?

Probably a Welsh Harlequin:

But if it's a lot smaller than the Pekin, like mallard-sized, it could be a snowy mallard, although those are pretty rare, I think.

It looks like a welsh harlequin or maybe a mix, Snowy mallards are so hard to find especially if they are pure bred so many people who claim to have them simply just bred them with call ducks which makes it a mixed breed not a mallard even e fowl a few years back decided to sell snowy mallards and when I contacted them about their lineage and what bloodlines that came from the first sentence was . " we obtained this variation of mallard from breeding a low quality snowy call ducks and mallards together" I replied " that is a mixed breed and you can be sued for false advertising a product." And the. The next year they were off the market I guess someone got really angry about it or either they got scared of a lawsuit.

Ah, that's where I had seen them for sale before was on efowl. So it sounds like they are more rare than I thought.

S/he's considerably smaller than the Pekin but the Pekin was the biggest out of the group and s/he was the smallest. The rest were a decent size, not as big as the Pekin but also not that small. I got a better picture today.

Also, not sure if it means anything or not but s/he has a greyish bill with a darker spot on the tip.

Am I crazy, or does anybody else think the bigger one's bill makes it look like a gosling? The size difference is pretty major between the two for them to both be ducklings of the same age, right? I'll admit I have next to no experience with geese though, lol, or with Pekins...I just know Pekins are generally the biggest.

Ive had white geese when i was younger and as far as i can remember i dont think its a gosling.. he really isnt that big, the pictures make it look worse than it is but i dont think they are the same age. Store said they had the Pekin's in for awhile before they got the rest of the ducks in. The larger one is a week or two older than the one im questioning lol.

Aren't mallards considerably smaller than pekins as a whole? So the ducklings would differ quite a bit in size? And the age difference does make a difference too. Well, whatever breeds you have they are adorable!! So much fun!!
