It looks like maybe a Black Sex Link? We got these from a friend, and I figured out our others are Buff Orpington's but I haven't been able to find out what these girls are. Thanks

She looks more like a Black Copper Marans in build and coloring. Does she lay a dark egg? (Not all BCM lay darker eggs if hatchery quality).

Black Sex Links usually are messier in the red bleed through with more flecking throughout the breast (but not always) and not as neat a ring of read around the hackles.

My thoughts.

See I though about that but the legs look way too light and the tail set a little too high as well.

In the first photo, the bird looks a lot like a Black Copper Marans (which is what I based my opinion on).

You can see good photos of BCM on the feathersite, and the general Marans appearance (since I don't have photos of my BCM as full grown adults...never seem to take pictures of them once they've fully grown..only the pullets in the byline BCM hatch below).

BCM leg color can range from silver-light grey to slate, and no, the tail is not set too high. It is the low rider appearance that is Marans like in that photo. BSL typically are lighter build.

I really can't say much else as the additional photos don't show the birds really well (in good lighting, profile), but since the other bird has more orange, it may indicate BSL (or a mossy back BCM).

They have no leg feathering, and are not laying dark eggs, so they may very well be BSL. Since BCM are not common, it may simply be a striking looking BSL.

You can see the color of my BCM eggs in the byline below as well.
