Hi, we recently got four chicks for our devoted broody hen and would really like some help to sex them.
They are all between 7-8weeks old, we got them as day old chicks from a local farm and sold as:
1. Black Australorp
2. Splash Australorp
3. Lavender Araucana (Australia)
4. Buff Orpington

We guess that there are two roos in the mix but would like the opinion of someone with more experience/knowledge to help out.

Of course time will tell. But my young children are quickly becoming chicken obsessed and have been documenting the chicks progress and personalities we are hoping this exercise will help expand our chicken knowledge.
Thanks!

The black astralorp looks like a roo. The buff orpington looks like a hen. The splash astralorp might be a roo and the lavender araucana looks like a hen.

Thanks so much for everyone's input. Our guess is that the Black Australorp is a roo, and the Splash and Araucana are hens, it's our Buff Orpington (Honey) that has our guesses divided. Everyone is hoping Honey is a hen.
