Hey guys! I'm fairly new to having chickens. So, I have an Amerucana chicken that's about a year old. She started acting strange 2 days ago. I thought she might have a stuck egg, but she laid today. She has separated herself. Sitting down randomly, not eating normally. No drainage from eyes, ears, or nose. Any suggestions?

Welcome to BYC, i would say that it was stuck but, she may just be worn out from getting the egg laid, give her some vitamins in water and some ACV, to give her a boost, just keep an eye on her.

Hi and welcome to BYC. You could ask your question in the "Emergencies, disease, injuries and cures" forum for further advice.

In the meantime, the Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken keepers - loads of info on anything chicken. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread (just type your state in the search box) will also put you in contact with other BYC members in your area.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC.

All the best

Since she's lethargic, you might be best to separate her from the flock so she can rest without being picked on by the other birds (they'll single out the unhealthy ones and peck them). Hope she's back to normal soon.

Good luck to you!

Thanks Guys! Goldie seems to be feeling better, but now she won't get out of the box! Lol. Put food and water close to her. Gave her vitamins in the water. Haven't been to the store to get the ACV. Going tomorrow. Thanks for the help. I didn't see the sick chicken thread. I'm new to the site, so I'll have to continue to look!
