I'm already in the Easter HAL and also have chicks arriving this coming week...

But DH and I had to run in TSC quick for some cubes and I, of course, had to swing by the chick bins.

I saw THE MOST ADORABLE - what I'm 99% sure was a little silkie bantam in the bantam bin...little black (grey?) beak...yellow in color but the silkie poof with extra fuzz on the head (don't think it was Polish)

Anyway...we left...& im trying REALLY HARD not to ask my husband to go back...because it wouldn't have any little friends until at least Tues or Wed when the other chicks arrive!! Gahhhhh!!! Want want want!!!!

I had the same battle 2 days ago.....OMG, such cute little Rainbow chicks! My main order comes in in 5 days, I'm forcing myself to stay in my sweatpants so I don't go drive over there.

Haha same here - mine should be here Tues or Wed...I'm being good - we're almost home and I didn't ask to go back lol had my brooder been set up with the other chicks today though, I'd have brought it home with me hahahahahaha!

You guys have much more willpower than I do. Came home with 6 silkies (I think 4 buff and 2 white) and 5 black Australorps. Luckily, my order is not due to arrive until May and had these guys on it, so I just need to make a phone call to adjust it.

I love this thread! I had to laugh at the "sweatpants" comments because that's SO ME!! Tractor supply is Super close to my house and I've been litterly fighting myself to stay away. my small order of 9 Chicks have been ordered since January ugh. Not due to hatch / Ship until April 11th...UGH..the only thing keeping me away is hubby would KILL me if I brought more home. now, he REALLY has to expand the house and run (4 years in the making)!!! I'm trying desperately to get him to start it!! there is always some reason we cant.. ugh. anyway I'd be down in a heartbeat if death by hubby wasn't waiting when I got home!!!

Sweatpants wouldn't keep me out of TSC, I wear sweats there all the time :p

My only saving grace was that all the bins were cleaned out the last time I went in :/

I was just gonna say lol sweatpants won't keep me from TSC...not having my brooder set up today is the ONLY thing that kept me from bringing that cutie home - that and not yet having buddies for it to cuddle with.
You can bet your hiney I'll go see if it's still there when my brooder is set up and my other chicks arrive lol (sadly I'm sure it will be gone!! Dang it!!! Want him/her SO BADLY!)

We were at TSC today....I just needed some layer pellets. Yep, they had chicks, but I have eggs going into the incubator next week so I had no problem just looking. But what I saw made me crazy! In one bin there were only 4 chicks left, marked "Black Sex Link Pullets". Uh huh. So the employee walked up to me and said, "Chicks have been selling out fast. Better act fast if you want those little girls."

I just looked at him.. Seeing his name on his badge, I said, "Um, Jason - those are roos. All four of them."

He sniffed and replied, "No they came in the shipping box marked 'Black Sex Link Pullets' and I think the hatchery would know,"

So I whipped out my phone, signed in to BYC, found what I was looking for, and said, "See those white dots on their heads? Now, what does this say?" and I handed him my phone. He looked at it and then said, "Well, who'm I gonna believe, the hatchery or some blurb on the internet." Ooooo-kayyyy!

And I'll betcha those 11 puffy cheeked, chipmunk or yellow with charcoal smudges colored chicks with the stubby little tail feathers coming out are truly Auracanas, too, just like the sign says, right?

Yes, I've unfortunately met my fair share of "uninformed" TSC employees. I thought just our TSC was bad but last week I went to another one an hour away and it was the same situation lol...kinda sad - so many people don't care about actually learning more and doing well at their job - it's just a paycheck kinda attitude.
Last week I asked where their thermometers with hygrometers were. The guy told me they absolutely didn't carry those and I'd have to order online. Then I went and found them on aisle 3, MYSELF. I let him know nicely that they DO in fact carry them in store.
