Hello all,

My chicks are almost 4 weeks old. We live in South GA and lows at night have been in the low 60s. They are not quite fully feathered but getting close. Their brooder had been outside with a heat lamp but lately the lamp has been off during the day. Last night I leftthe lamp off at night since they seemed warm and at 3 am they were still scattered about sleeping peacefully.

Here is my delema. I'm going out of town for 5 days and intended to take the chickie's with me. I worry that the 4 hour car ride and new environment may be rather stressful. If they are ready for the coop, that seems like a nicer option for them but I don't have power out to it and they would lose the heat lamp. Think they would rather go for a road trip, or start the housewarming party?

Start the housewarming party. And I would put a heat lamp in the coop with a timer and set the time for 1/2 every 2 hours at night, just in case.

Well, I was going to put them in the coop but a friend offered to chicken sit last minute.
