FAILURE @ HT COMPOSTING!

Hmmm...maybe you should get a little compost starter too. After you get a pile going, you shouldn't have to buy it again as you can seed a new pile with a scoop of the old. Just if you're feeling impatient...it should decompose eventually by itself.

Added more veggie scraps, more water and today I have some REAL heat! No thermometer so I just ordered a REOTEMP compost thermometer from Amazon today. I'll be able to temp the pile on Wednesday.

I also bought a gage for testing moisture level...I don't know if this will help me a lot but it was cheap enough to give it a go. I think understanding the moisture level of hot compost is the thing that has me the most stumped. If I can get this going good and then test the moisture level then I will have an idea what to shoot for each time.
