Not trying to invade this thread, but I also have a lavender Orpington that I think might be a cockerel. I was told that she was a girl, but then when she was around 2 weeks old the comb started to pink up a little and get a little bigger, but it's stayed the same ever sense. Wren is about a month old, give or take. I'm just worried because I don't want any more roosters. I'm leaning a bit more to Pullet, but I just wanted some more opinions of people more experienced than me when it comes to sexing chicks. Thanks
Darn it! I was afraid of that.....I really wanted a hen because I was going to take one of my neighbors' lav orpington roos because he has waaaay to many roosters and breed them. I might have to find Wren a home if he is indeed a he, because I already have 8, possibly 9 roosters not including Wren....and not enough hens to have a 10-1 hen/rooster ratio..
Yeah it is. I don't know if I will be able to do that.....I get really attached lol.It's really annoying when you think you've got a pullet and its a cockerel.
You can try selling them but if they don't sell they might have to go in the pot
