What breed is this??

They are a crossbreed, and relatively new. As such, there is no standard, so they are all over the place in terms of skin/leg color, number of toes, and coloring. They are sort of like the dual-purpose version of Easter Eggers.

I'm pretty sure that they are the chicks that result from the cross breeding hatcheries do to improve laying rate. They have always produced these birds, but have only now found a way to market and sell them.

You think? I always assumed those birds would be much lighter bodied from an infusion of leghorn-type blood.

Leghorns aren't the only breed hatcheries use. Productions Reds can be used to boost laying, while still maintaining size. Plus, there will be the generations of basically 'worthless' chicks that can't be sold as any breed because they don't even come half-way close.

Hi I've bought some chickens the guy said they were Ameraucana's. But from what I understand EE'S can look similar. Can someone tell me if I have true Ameraucana's? And what kind? Thank You!

Ameraucana? And what color? Please help!

My roo.
No muffs on the rooster, so not true Ameraucana. He's an Easter Egger.

Brown hen
Non-standard color, so she's an Easter Egger.

Blue speckled

The Splash hen may be Ameraucana. Check the bottoms of her feet for skin color. Yellow means Easter Egger, white or grey means Ameraucana.
