In the Brooder

I know everyone who has had/or has ducklings have issues with their cuties spreading their food all over their brooder. So I would like to find a way to solve that and many other issues ducklings have when it comes to their food bowls. I have raised ducklings a few times and I have made the mistake of buying factory made duckling/chick food bowls. I just ordered another batch of duckies and would love to make my own duckling food bowl. Feel free to post pictures and ideas from food bowls you have made or would like to make for your ducklings!

I use short wide flat bottom glass jars and I wet the food for them so they don't have to wet it in the water themselves in order to swallow it. The chick feeders are made for dry feed and ducklings need their food to be wet. They will still get some food in the water when they clean their bills after eating bht I just use that water when I mix the next batch of food. They will make some mess shoveling and swallowing their food but as long as you use shelf liners and don't put shavings in their brooder it is easier to clean up after them than chicks. I use plastic tubs and clean them in the bathtub when I give the ducklings a bath. Ducks love water so they don't get bothered by spilled water as long as they can also dry themselves with their bills. Avoid using anything absorbant around ducks because it will only make it harder to keep things clean and dry.
