So I just had 2 silkie/red Rhode Island mixes hatch. Mom was the silkie. So my question is, what will it look like? They have the 5 toes and feathered feet. They are smaller. They do not have the blackish skin or turquoise face that the mama had. Any ideas?
Well, silkie mixes have normal feathers for gen 1, I learned that last year...lol so I would think if momma was white maybe a light colored RIR look???, but I do not officilly know the color genetics, I can just say they won't carry the silkie feathering.So I just had 2 silkie/
Yup. most of my mixes and I have a bunch have the extra toe and feathered feet. I think it was @RavynFallen that schooled me about silkie mixes. If you breed them back to a silkie you can get silkie feathers on the gen 2's but gen 1's carry standard feathers. A good share of mine have a little cresting as well.
