Hi everyone, I'm new to the site and hatching chicks for the first time.
I'm on day 20 and one little chick has hatched already. Very active and very loud, they are falling all over all the other eggs. It seems to be looking up at an awkward angle which I know can be an issue, but I'm not sure if it's doing this because the heat and light are coming from the top?
Shall I just leave it for now and see what happens? It looks ok, heart breakingly cute and fluffy already.

I have two chick's in my incubator was wondering if I should pull them out also?
 
Thanks. It's asleep at the moment. I hope! Is it likely to be damaging the other eggs? It's is walking all over them and rolling them around. Nine have broken but one is now quite tilted. I don't want to open the lid as it will mess with the humidity. I can't stop fussing!:rolleyes:
 
You would most likely do more damage opening and losing humidity than he will do in there. Wait till all have hatched to start pulling them out.
 
When to pull chicks out is a personal decision. If you have your humidity up and your incubator recovers humidity quickly after opening, there is no reason not to take out chicks when YOU are comfortable providing you have a brooder set up with one end warmed and out of any drafts.

Some people leave their chicks in until the very end of hatch, some people take them out once they are fluffed up, others sooner. I pull mine as they become active and start running around the bator.

Chicks peeping will encourage the others, I replace this by playing chicks cheeping at the bator from youtube.

Depends where your humidity is. I open my bator frequently during hatch with no ill effects. There are hands off hatchers that will not open the bator after lockdown and hands on hatchers that will. It's a matter of method and what you are comfortable with. There is no one right way to do things. Other than having the right temp, everything else differs from hatcher to hatcher. As long as the hatcher is having success, that is what matters.
 
Thanks for the advice. I'm leaving everything overnight as little chick seems to be sleeping so hopefully until the sun comes up, siblings are safe!
Tomorrow is day 21 so ill see if he gets some company. I doubt I'll sleep so,I'll be up and down stairs checking for any new arrivals!

No new chicks this morning. Was hoping some might have hatched overnight but no such luck! I'm leaving hubby in charge whilst I go to work and tell the children the exciting news and hopefully the little one will cheep all day and persuade some more out....
