My 3 week old bantam chick has been limping all day today, and becoming more and more lethargic, sometimes even listless. She just lays down and keeps her eyes closed. I have been forcing fluids every hour, and she is still eating some, and still pooping. I have read about coccidiosis, and wondering if this is what she has?

I tried isolating her from the rest of the chicks, but she just became frantic and was peeping to get back to them. So for now she is still with them, just laying on the side lines sleeping. Do I just let her rest?

I am heading to town tomorrow afternoon and can pick up some medications (maybe Corid) if needed. Any advice?? Or just some words of encouragement? It's so sad to think she probably won't make it.

It could be coccidiosis. Take a trip, as you said to your local vet or farm store to see if they have any advice and/or medications. I hope your little chick gets better soon!!

I just checked on her and she was up and eating... so thats good! But she was balancing on one leg to do so, not putting any weight on her one foot.... So I am definitely still concerned.

And now she is laying with her bad leg completely out to the side.... What does that mean? Do I just leave her alone and hope her leg heals? Will the leg heal when I give her Corid?

I'm not sure. Maybe you should check her leg and her foot to see if some splinter is there, or if she has a small cut on her little foot. Just make sure to ask the people at your farm store what they would recommend. I hope that she will improve!!

I think that the laying on the side thing is normal, my chicks and chickens do it all the time when they are just chilling out.

But it might be different considering her conditions.

Bumping to start the day off....

She made it through the night. But is still the same, no change. Leg still out and very lethargic. Anyone else have any advice?
