Hello friends, today I am building a new chicken coop and I had 15 or 20 rotting fish carcasses spread around the garden. Well, dad opened up the pen and the girls managed to find the rotting, maggot-ridden carcasses and found themselves quite fond of them.

So, I put all of the carcasses where they can't get to them and now i'm wondering: What do I need to do in order to keep them from getting sick? Dewormer? Any tips appreciate... Thanks!

maggots are probably good for them. The rotten fish however not so much. I'd watch for salmonella and other such illnesses (which is usually fast showing), some things are local, like here we have to worry about fish head disease which is pretty dangerous (takes about two weeks to show). Worms from it are not as much of a worry. Just keep an eye on them if they are ill they may need to be medicated, but you would need to know what they had to treat it.

Your chickens should be fine as long as the fish wasn't tainted with something, but you might not like your eggs for a day or 2..mine raid my compost all the time for rotting anything, it has the best bugs.
