We stopped at the area feed store and while looking at the chicks my daughter spied not one, but two, sickly babies being trampled. One had the worst case of pasty butt and the other seems unable to stand. Both are lethargic- not eating or drinking. I cleaned the pasty but and gave them vitaminwater. Thoughts?
 
Keep them dry, warm - try to get some electrolytes into them. What you are trying is a noble thing, but frequently these weak chicks have a congenital problem that will result in their death.
 
Thank you- one has passed away and we are giving the other electrolyte water every twenty minutes. It is in its own brooder.
