Coturnix eggs still haven't hatched on morning of the 18th day! How long did yours take?

There have been tiny movements a few times but nothing more and nothing consistant. These are my first eggs so I really want them to hatch (I've just been staring at them the past couple of days). Is it normal for them to not really be showing any signs of hatching yet?

From my understanding, coturnix are pretty reliable in their hatch times. Keep in mind I have only tried two batches of eggs, and only was able to successfully hatch one. My first batch was moving around, and a few pipped but never made it out. My second batch began hatching exactly at noon on the 17th day. However, I have heard that hatches can take up to 20 days for a variety of different reasons.

I totally understand the staring! My roommates and I did the same thing.

I hope that your eggs hatch, but if they don't, it is no reason to stop trying. I am sure that everyone here has experienced a bad hatch. My first batch didn't work because I later found out that both thermometers were off by 5 degrees. So you should check your thermometers. Also, I have heard that a dryer incubation is better (30-50% RH), until the last three days.

Good luck!
