I think I have found a solution for watering flocks in hot weather, hopefully. Just rigged it today so we shall see.
Bought a 2 gal cooler from Target, with a pull out thingy on top so water would flow, for about $13 and went to TSC and got a Tap 'N' Drinker (was on sale for $7.49) and fits perfectly on the cooler, Tilted it in pen with a wood prop so water would flow.
In 10 month of raising Buff Orphington's or any chickens for the 1st time and still new to this. Last summer was at home to change out water, add ice bottles, this year not, so had to rig up something for my piggy chickens since I will be gone most of day.
They used poultry nipples last summer are used to them so I think it was an easy transition for them. Get's hot here around in NC 110 heat index. My flock is small 7 hens and one temperamental Roo, who will attach if I am not wearing my high black boots.
Hope this helps someone! Was unable to find anything online so put the old brain to work.
