Hello! I have three almost five month old ducks, a pekin female, a Muscovy drake and a WH(?) drake.

The pekin isn't laying yet as far as I know, and the WH isn't trying to mate with her either- but the Scovy is mating with both of them! Should I Separate him??

We're planning on getting another female duck soon to even out the ratio, but I'm really concerned about my Scovy raping my WH drake. Is this normal??
We're coming into winter now so will he calm down at all? We were thinking about putting up a fence through the pen to separate the two groups (after we get another female) will it be okay if they can see each other?
We do want ducklings so we will be letting them run together during the day, but throughout the night and early morning/evening they would be on separate sides of a chicken wire fence to give the girls a break?

Also how would I go about introducing a new duck to the flock??

Thanks in advance!!

Yes, separate the Muscovy. It is in the range of normal behavior, but it's aggression, and can seriously harm the other drake.

Some drakes are just that way... You'll need to protect the others, somehow.

The behavior may subside a bit as the weather cools off, or not. Each case is different.

Watch closely - remember each little life depends on you for protection.

Introductions need to go slowly. Let them see each other from opposite sides of the fence for a few days, then supervise time together in the pen. Anything more than a little poking or chasing is not good. Keep trying till they get along reasonably well.

Thank you. Its a shame because he's such a sweet boy, but my WH boy is smaller than him and super gentle so I'll be putting the separation fence up this weekend.
