Window was put in with traditional window screen. How can I replace this with hardware cloth?

Remove the window's wood trim. Then, cut (So the hardware cloth extends out over the window by 3" or so) and install the hardware cloth over the window with poultry staples. Then, replace the wood trim over the window and hardware cloth with screws.

It's hard to tell on yours, does any part of the window stick out further then the siding? The type of vinyl Windows that I have do so I am just going to attach the HC to the trim. I tried putting the HC over the window first like JackE suggested but it won't work. If your window is is flush with the siding I too would take the trim off, put the HC over the window then put the trim back on.

That's exactly what I'm doing now. Working out great so far, don't know why it didn't strike me to do it.

I would build a large frame covered in hardware cloth ¼" larger than the outside trim of the window mounted to the outside sheathing of the building with as many wood screws as required. personally. Leave the window exactly as is.

Got r done! While I'm on, do you think the nest boxes need a lip? To keep straw and pine shavings separate?

Thanks for the input!
