Orpington Genetic Question! HELP?!?

I have black bantam Orpington roo and blue bantam Orpington hen.
I hatched two eggs 4/5 and I got a black cockerel and what appears to be a lavender pullet?
Is my roo a split?
Or will she darken with age? She is almost 5 weeks old.

all blue chickens are not the same shade of blue. Some are lighter than others, Your pullet is blue. In order to get lavender offspring the rooster and hen would both have to carry one lavender gene.


the melanotic gene is producing the black/dark blue hackles and head feathers. Lavender will dilute the black due to melanotic, the blue gene will not dilute the black pigments.
