Hey guys, wondering if anyone can give me their opinion, is this silver whyndotte male or female? The waddle is so much bigger than my other silver or my two golds, they are all the same age close to 8 weeks. Happy for some input

That's what I figured!!!!! I'm excited the hubby not so much... Lol

I'm going to try, I have to do some research on how this will affect our eggs... Meaning how/when do they get fertilized etc.. We have 3 acres so space isn't an issue, we have a great feed store in town, that have a listing of farms that will take him if we need to.

Having a rooster doesn't do anything to the eggs - other than fertilizing them, of course. A good rooster protects hens and chicks and alerts them when there is danger, helps the hens with nests, fertilizes eggs as well as lots of other things. If hens really like a rooster sometimes they will lay more eggs than before. Roosters are great!

Fertile eggs are the same as infertile eggs as long as they aren't incubated. They will not spontaneously begin developing. You may need a few more girls, though. On average, you need about 8 to 10 hens per rooster to prevent him from being 'too hard' on the ladies.

Good to know! Thanks for the help, I'd love to keep him, I'll have to see about getting a few more hens if my hubby allows.... Appreciate the help
