Scalped button quail?

For some reason, last night my 5 week old button quails decided to attack one of their cohort. He appears to have no skin on his head, nothing but a bloody mess. I put him into solitary, but should I euth him? Does he have any chance, or is it cruel to leave him to fate? He's just kind of cowering in the corner of the hamster cage I put him in.

Yeah this is what I meant it's probably his best bet without an expensive vet
 
Surprisingly he is still alive and actually acting kind of perky. I wonder if he'll have a bald head the rest of his life? Do you think I dare put him back in with the others? I don't know what set them off.

When I had Button Quail this happened to me twice and both birds lived

I washed the wounds with black tea with an aspirin dissolved in it and both healed well
 
I didn't give him any drugs. I couldn't find any info on proper dose or the safety of their use in birds.
 
From my research, it seems it is ok to apply topical lidocaine to birds, but I didn't have any on hand, and the vets prefer opiods or carprofen for birds, both of which require a prescription. I would suspect tylenol is a big no-no because of its liver toxicity.
 
I wouldn't attempt reintroducing him until fully healed - including feathers. That will probably take at least a month. You can try to put him back with them, but if they did this unprovoked in the first place, I think the risk they'll do it again when he is looking weird with a wound on his head to perk their interest is way too big. If possible, keep him right beside the others where they can see each other, if you intend to reintroduce him to them and not just sell him or something.
