I bought a new batch of bantam chicks. I tried a different hatchery...chickens for backyards... and at 6 weeks I am pretty confident in saying 3/8 chicks I ordered are crockerels. 3 barred rocks appear to be Roos out of 5. That's a REALLY bad sex selecting percentage.

Anybody else have experience with this hatchery? I should have stuck with MPC.

The 3 in question are super grey and have significantly bigger combs. The 2 girls are way more blackish and have tiny combs....Grrrr.

Thoughts anyone?

Also, how to sex 6 week old RIR with pics please? Thank you!

Argh. I was hoping I would be wrong. Yes, sexed pullets. I just posted my RIR chicks from same hatchery. I have no clue in regard to those chicks as this is my first time with RIRs.

Yes, those aren't good odds at all, but other than My Pet Chicken, I wasn't aware that any hatchery sold sexed bantams.

Yes, they sell sexed bantams but, apparently, not accurately!
