Another question.

I don't think mom will hurt the chick, but if it can't keep up, eventually I think it will go cold - mom might nest in a different corner of the cage with the other chick. She might return at the sound of the peeping of the chick the first 5 or 15 or 40 times, but at one point the chick is likely to be tired and the peeping too weak and mom might not respond.

So far she is still nesting, if need be I might have to change the bedding to a flat surface maybe like a towel or blanket so the little one has a chance to keep up.. but the father n mother have flattened out walkways in the straw for the other first chick so wonder if the weaker one will be able to walk over it.. I will keep an eye out even if she can help keep the littley warm for a couple nights .. ahhhh man this is a lot of work.. some people are telling me to just end the precious things life to make things easier but I just don't personally think that is necessary or fair.

In my experience, the weak chicks die on their own within a week. I've never had a chick that had appeared weak at one point survive longer than that. I've also never had a chick die once it hit the 1-week mark. But my buttons are outside in a small aviary, so they have a lot of room for the chicks to get lost in and the temperature is usually lower than inside temperatures, so they can't handle being away from the parents for very long. So it might be different in your case. My fingers are crossed for the little fellow, at least.

So far so good, she is helping the little thing around and he/she has started getting around on the straw.. fingers xd he survives the week, he is definitely getting stronger hr by hr and day by day so I really hope he makes it.

Unfortunately the bubs died yesterday afternoon not sure why at all, one minute he/she was running around and playing with the other baby and the parents and then all of a sudden started to go down hill in the arvo, and died a couple hrs later.. was so upsetting, so we just have the one chicky babe that is eating drinking and all sorts. Very strong and healthy.
