In the Brooder
First time chicken owner here. Just noticed nesting boxes have wooden slats on the bottom and my plan was to put lenolium on the bottom so its easier to clean. Nesting liners would go on top of lenolium, not using straw. So my question is.... are nesting boxes supposed to have some ventilation? We didnt build this coop, purchased it from Costco. Just wondering why they would use wooden slats for bottom part, space in between is maybe 1/4 inch. Thanks for your help.
