I have a young Muscovy duck whose bill and overall face is very pale. It went from a red to almost a gray. He is not walking much, but he is eating and drinking well. He also was leaning on one side before I intervened He may have had these symptoms for a long time, but i noticed it about 5 days ago. As per the other birds, I noticed the other male has not been mating with the females. When I look all their faces, only one female as a bright red face.
Also two of my 2 month old Pekin ducklings died one day after the other. The first one I found dead and the other i found on his back quacking after church. He was eating and drinking and as I picked him up to take him to be isolated he died in my hands.
There is no sign of bleeding and physically they seem well. I do have a rooster my friend gave me, and my muscovy healthier male does not fight back when the rooster tries to mount him. Instead he tries to flee.
The only guess I have is that may have caused their sickness is worms. Since they forage most of time i assumed they may have worms.They also may have gotten sick from eating the pine straw mixed with chicken feed, where I was keeping chicks.
the very same day the second duckling passed, I administered apple cinder vinegar into their water. The next day i bought Wazine 17 and administer 2 table spoons into a gallon. Right now they are alive, and palest muscovy seems to be ambulating a little bit more but his face is still very pale with no color.
Their poo is runny to me, but it always appears that way. I never seen anything peculiar in their feces. As per bedding they prefer to sleep outside near the house on the grass.
I am raising these birds for fun and meat. I am disappointed that this black musocy is sick. However his sickness maybe the reason why the other male muscovy is not interested in the hens, and when the hens may not be laying.
