Black stuff on comb Does not look like mites or pecking wounds , what else could it be?

If it looks like dried blood, and is jet black, it probably is pecking wounds or scrapes from a sharp object or fencing. You can usually see mites or evidence of them, although some only come on after dark. The third possibility is fowl pox from mosquitoes. Those start out light tan or beige and turn darker brown. I would guess it is pecking wounds or possibly mites. It is hard to tell through pictures sometimes.
